August 6, 2025

Citrus County Chamber

The Citrus County Chamber of Commerce has released the results of its 2025 Annual Chamber Member Temperature Check designed to gauge the thoughts, concerns, and priorities of the local business community. The feedback serves as a current snapshot of member sentiment, informing the Chamber’s advocacy and policy direction for the coming year.

“We rely on the Temperature Check to give us an honest, unfiltered read on what our members are experiencing and what they care about most,” said Josh Wooten, President and CEO of the Citrus County Chamber of Commerce. “That insight helps us align our efforts, both in advocacy and support services, with the real challenges and opportunities our members are facing across the county. With all of the chatter of an economic slowdown, it was nice to see that Chamber members are generally optimistic about the future.”

Key findings from the 2025 Temperature Check include:

Top concerns among members:

  • The Top concern among respondents is a qualified workforce, followed closely by road infrastructure, growth development, property insurance, and affordable housing.
  • Economic outlook: 49% of survey respondents indicated their business has grown in the last 12 months, with 32% of respondents indicating it has stayed the same. When asked if they will be hiring in the next 12 months, 25% of respondents indicated they would be growing their employee base, with 72% indicating they expect to remain the same. Only 3% indicated they may need to reduce their employee base.
  • Member satisfaction with Chamber services: 88% of survey respondents feel The Citrus County Chamber of Commerce is on the right track.

John Murphy, Chair of the Chamber’s Governmental Affairs Committee, added, “These survey results are foundational to shaping our legislative priorities. The committee is now working to translate member feedback into focused advocacy goals for the next year that reflect the collective voice of the business community.”

The 2025 Temperature Check was distributed to all Chamber member businesses and collected anonymously to ensure honest feedback. Responses were analyzed to identify trends, priorities, and areas where the Chamber can most effectively serve and advocate on behalf of its members.

Over the coming months, the Chamber’s Governmental Affairs Committee will meet with elected officials and members to codify the 2026 Legislative Agenda. That work will culminate with Citrus County Legislative Days in Tallahassee on January 21–22, 2026, when the Chamber delegation will take the priorities developed from member feedback directly to the State Capitol.
