Committees and Governance |
 |
Overview
The Board of Directors, the Executive Committee, the Finance Committee and the Nominating / Bylaws committees function as the policy-making bodies of the Citrus County Chamber of Commerce and its standing committees. The overall responsibilities of these groups include the development of the annual Program of Work, Budget Development, providing leadership in each area of concern, chamber product and service, and the overall representation of the members' interests. The Board of Directors, President and working committees of the board work with the staff, chamber Ambassadors and volunteers of the chamber to implement the annual Program of Work and Budget.
Trustee/Major Investor Group
The Trustee/Major Investor Group is made of the leading major investors of the Citrus County Chamber of Commerce organization. The group will act as a network of members who extend the leadership strength of the Board of Directors and staff across the membership. Major Investors meet quarterly with the Board of Directors to learn about issues of importance to the regional business community, networking with other major investors, and learn about the current business of the Citrus County chamber. Major investor meetings are hosted at various major investor locations across the county.
Exeutive, Finance, Nominating/Bylaws committees
The Executive Committee, Finance Committee and Nominating / Bylaws committees are working committees of the Board of Directors. These committees provide guidance and support to the Board of Directors.
Chairman's Leadership Council
The Chairman's Leadership Council (CCL) is the working governmental affairs committee of the Citrus County Chamber of Commerce. The CCL mission is to evaluate county issues and frame public policy for the chamber Board of Directors. Additionally, council members work together to identify issues of importance to the county and cities of Inverness and Crystal River.
The chairman, vice chairman and chamber staff will develop meeting agendas and set priorities for the group and its programs. In November of each year, an agenda of activity for the coming year will be outlined by members of the chamber. A new Issue Survey of Chamber Members and selected business community "opinion leaders" will be conducted at this time. The survey results will be used by the chamber and the CCL to focus our limited resources and efforts toward the chamber's most important priorities.
The legislative issues brought forth from this annual survey will serve as the basis of the chamber's state legislative priorities. These issues will be brought to our legislative delegation's attention during our annual chamber legislative trip to Tallahassee.
The chamber and CCL will also work, where possible, to build and enhance coalitions in an effort to add the business community's voice and resources to those of like-minded orgaizatins. Representatives of the Citrus County Chamber of Commerce will develop and maintain routine contact with public officials within the state, county, city and school board levels of government:
- Sustainable, planned growth, through economic development and commerce
- Creation of "value-added" opportunities for local businesses
- Support for our school district and Central Florida Community in their ability to contribute to the vitality of our economy and community
- Well-planned infrastructure that facilitiates orderly growth and commerce, while protecting our countywide water supply
- Government policy-making and administation, based on sound business principles.
- Criminal justice facilities and programs that make a measurable improvement in the health, safety and welfare of the community
- Respect for our county's natural beauty and environment in a manner that leaves others seeing us an an unique place which balances our built and natural environments
- Recognition that citizens of our community must be willing to make a commitment as volunteers, leaders and public servants in order to provide for current and future generations
- A community that places a high value on cultural and social resources, where residents and visitors can enjoy the natural beauty and attend cultural events
