Golfing at its finest
It's not an overstatement to brag that Citrus County features some of the best golfing opportunities in the world. For Florida, Citrus County features a wide varied topography, which means the numerous golfing opportunities in the county are very different, and equally challenging for golfers of all abilities.
At least two local courses are widely known, attracting golfers from all over the county to match their skills with those popular courses.
The Black Diamond Ranch Golf and Country Club's Quarry course has been ranked in the top 100 in the world by Golf Digest magazine.
The El Diablo course in Citrus Springs was honored in 1999 as the top public golf course in the nation.
Public courses in the county total nine, and are situated at locations across the county. There are five private courses.
With that number of facilities, long waits for tee time are rare, and play can be expected to move alon g at a pleasant pace, with participants enjoying the weather and scenery that make golf in Citrus County such a popular experience.
