Event Description: The Lure of Florida Fishing: a new traveling exhibition now on display at the Old Courthouse Heritage Museum in Inverness. Currently on display in the John Murray Davis rotating exhibit gallery area is an exhibition titled, "The Lure of Florida Fishing", from the Florida Museum of History in Tallahassee. Fishing is one of the largest participant sports in the world, and with over 600 species in Florida there are many chances for locals and visitors alike to pursue this popular pastime. This exhibition chronicles the rise of recreational fishing from the late 19th century through the Golden Age of angling in the 1950s. The amazing story of fishing in Florida is interpreted by the use of historic photographs, artifacts, and four framed reproduced fish replicas including tarpon, bass, sailfish, and dolphin fish. The Museum is opened Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., it is free and open to the public, with donations always accepted and appreciated.
Located in downtown Inverness on Courthouse Square, just to the east of U.S.41/SR 44.
